Malene & Lucca

Full Name: Malene Kusk

How are you involved at Church 180? My husband, Simon, and I along with our two kids Joshua and Lucca, have been coming to Church180 for close to two years now – ever since we came to Australia from Denmark. Simon and I lead a connect group at our house, and I also run playgroup. Previously we were a part of Welcoming Team, but this year we’re on the New Friends Team – which is very exciting!

What is the best thing about Church 180? Church180 is the friendliest church I've ever been to – I love that! That is clearly one of the reasons why our church is growing, new people feel welcome and want to stay – I know we did!

Where is your dream holiday? I would love to go on a relaxing holiday to Mauritius. Simon wanted to take me there for our honeymoon, but it wasn't the right time – so we went to Turkey instead.

Which three (3) people would you invite to dinner and why? Right now it would be my Mum and Dad (they count as one, as you can't really separate them), and my brothers Jacob and Søren. If it were three families I would chose my brothers’ wives’ and kids as well. Just because I really really miss them!!

What music is getting most airplay on your iPod at the moment? The music that is getting played around my house is very much dependent on my mood; I like to find songs that describe my mood. So it can be anything from rock to worship to soft country music. Right now I'm enjoying listening to a friend from uni that released a couple of songs last year. She has such a fine and gentle voice, it's so relaxing.

What book/s are you reading? I must say that I'm not a big book reader, but the latest book I've read was by a famous Swedish author Liza Marklund, The Boy in the Suitcase. That was all right. I have just bought a few study books that I am about to start, one on the book of Revelation and one on the Holy Spirit.

A movie you have seen recently that you would recommend? We don't watch a lot of movies in our house, only because when you are not from Australia, it is harder to rent a movie than it is to rent a car or open a bank account!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Spare time? What's that? I'm at home with the kids, so I don't really get a lot of spare time. But I do a lot of fun things with the kids throughout the day, so no I don't miss out, the kids are old enough to come with me shopping now... J One thing I do enjoy without the kids is going for a long walk along the beach just after dinner, when Simon is spending some quality time with them and getting them to bed.

Anything else you would like to add...? We love Australia! But when we eventually go back to Denmark, everyone is more than welcome to come visit us – our house will always be open to our Aussie friends!
