Missions
As the Church, we are commissioned to reach out to show God’s love and compassion for the lost and those in need. Here at Church180, we are interested in being God’s hands and feet, bringing real and relevant answers to the needs of the world today.
Ephesians 2:10 says:
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (TNIV).
As God’s people, we are committed to serving our community, our nation and the nations of the world. We believe that Jesus Christ can turn any situation around for good and that He uses His people, the Church, to see His Kingdom come on earth.
We are passionate about shining God’s light in the darkness, bringing hope to the hopeless, restoring dignity and worth to the disregarded, setting the captives free, loosing the bonds of injustice, showing God’s love to the unloved and making God’s name known across the earth.
We do this through the following areas:
Local
Church180 is committed to influencing our local community in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, our nation and the nations of the world.
We have a presence in our local schools and universities aimed at providing for their practical and spiritual needs. We have community days throughout the year including ‘Kids Day Out’ and ‘Random Acts of Kindness Day’ or ‘RAK’d’ where we love to connect with, and bless our city. We look forward to expanding these initiatives in the near future and building on our current involvement to make sure that every person in the region is reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We look forward to partnering with different organisations already established in our region in order to come along side them in support of the initiatives they are involved with.
Missions is more than a extraordinary calling to a foreign land. As God’s people, we are His representatives wherever we are and that simple truth requires us to look beyond our life and the experiences of our individual circumstances and consider the world around us and do something about it! It is that simple! As Church180 we desire to include the whole church body in the plans and opportunities that arise to impact our community. “…love your neighbour as yourself” was a command given to us all (Matt 22:39 TNIV).
National
Church180 is a part of a community of churches called the Australian Christian Churches who are initiating plans to serve the Aboriginal peoples of this nation. We are excited to support this vision and are committed to seeing it develop as we partner with Indigenous communities and come along-side them in this process.
International
Internationally, Church180 partners with ministries in China, Israel, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Nigeria and Tanzania. Within China, Israel and Tanzania we are able to support missionaries who are passionate about reaching the lost, developing disciples and serving the people of the communities they are part of.
Church180, along with several other churches in Australia, partner with Godly men and women in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya and Nigeria to develop a long-term initiative called B.I.G (Business, Integrity and Governance), designed to promote excellence of conduct in all areas of business and political life. Jon Hastings is the representative from Church180 who is specifically charged with overseeing this portfolio.
Through the organisation ‘Metamorphic’, pioneered by Lindsay Clarke, we have been able to see multiple churches planted alongside our commitment to ‘B.I.G’. This association is targeted at planting churches right across the world.
In addition to these long-term initiatives, we believe that it is important to show God’s compassion to people in times of tragedy and crisis, giving practical aid to situations requiring emergency attention, for example, the affects of natural and man-made disasters.
We are excited to see our involvement and impact expand and grow, as we remain faithful with what God puts in our hand. Watch this space!
